the third instalment in the 'random..' series by me, 'random nobody' builds on the foundations of the last cd and takes them that little bit further. intended as a sort of showcase of what I do for the uninitiated (and a top-up for those who know), it contains a mixture of styles and types of song which blend together well enough to make it an almost cohesive project. the cd is my first public venture back into this hip hop thing since I moved from Plymouth to Bournemouth to go to uni two years ago and it's a welcome break from the drought caused by too much work and too little time. it's been a work in progress for all that time however, so the tracks greatly range in age, and the quality of some is better than others because they were all recorded at different times at different locations.

lyrically, it's more of the same old same old, with some battle tracks, a scattering of randomness and the occasional bit of actual thought. although in fact, this cd has a lot more thought than my last two outings if i do say so myself. 'footprints on the moon', 'poor dave' and the last two tracks are far from your standard rhymes with no aim. that's not to say i haven't done those rhymes here as there is a fair share of rhyming just for the sake of rhyming. it's fun.

it's been a long time coming but it's out at last. you need this in your life.

_random e.p. jobby

random e.p. jobby

_release date
21 .march.2002

_tracklisting
01. vituperate
02. for instance
03. rant #3
04. contrition
05. dreamscape (recurring mix)

my second solo cd, 'random e.p. jobby' is a short, 5 track release which was essentially just intended to pass the time before a planned full album which never actually happened. circumstances.. blah blah blah.. i got lazy.

the decision to do an e.p. instead of another full cd wasn't because i had a lack of songs (i had dozens lined up), but because i didn't want a repeat of 'random stuff' which has 16 songs that about 16 people have heard. slightly deflating. so yeah, this was done to generate some sort of interest in a full album while also just to get new material out there for the people that were still checking for it.

released almost a full year after 'random stuff', the e.p. features 4 brand new tracks and a re-mix of a song i resurrected off the first cd and cleaned up a bit. a couple of battle tracks, a smidgen of gentle contemplation, and some random venting combine to give a decent enough impression of what you can expect from an english bob album in a handy bite-size form.

16. idiosyncrasy

the debut solo cd. tis a modern-day classic and a must have for any follower of bob. written over a two year period and demonstrating a plethora of styles, 'random stuff' is a sound representation of me. from the fun, jokey rhymes of 'idiosyncrasy' and 'do do do', to the introspective musings and social commentry of 'unfinished achiver' and 'destitute'; and the battle-tipped lyrics of 'spitteded' and 'don't even' to more personal rhymes on 'h' and 'unhappy faces', there really is something for everyone here.

despite being over 3 years old now (some tracks have actually reached the grand age of five by now), the cd has stood the test of time rather well and still sounds fresh today. the only thing i'd want to change about it is the accent thing.. but fuck it, i was young. let it be.
all of the tracks were written as stand-alone tracks over the course of, as i said, two years and as such, there's a slight lack of continuity which is obvious upon listening. that's what you get for not planning to release a cd. it was done on a whim while i was enjoying a degree of internet fame and in fact, the songs which made it on the cd were just a random selection made from all the tracks i had recorded up until that point in time, hence the title, 'random stuff'.

regardless, this cd is an hour of unadulterated bob and a worthy addition to your collection if only to witness how i started off doing this rap shit. truly historic.
